ERASMUS EXCHANGE VISIT TO FINLAND MEADOWHEAD
At the end of October 2015 a group of eleven Year 10 WELCOMED ERASMUS+ TEACHERS
students, Ms Barton and Mr Cocken spent a week in Finland As part of the ‘Passport to your Future’ project
as part of the Erasmus+ project. They were warmly we were delighted to host 8 teachers from our 3
welcomed by our partner school, Isoniitun Koulu school in partner schools in Finland, Slovenia and Spain
Klaukkala. Students worked in mixed nationality groupings, at the end of September 2015.

across Europe to be more aware of employability skills. In addition to attending several meetings each
day on different aspects of the project, our
partner school teachers enjoyed a welcome
meeting with Mr Fowler, a tour of the whole
school and visits to several lessons of the
subjects they teach in their own schools to get
an insight into how UK teachers teach. They
also visited a local company to see what
opportunities are on our doorstep for our young
school leavers.

Students had a tour
of Helsinki and the
opportunity to do
some shopping –
everyone was very
impressed by the
stunning architecture
and the cultural
monuments. They
also had a trip the
world famous ‘Fazer ‘chocolate and confectionary factory with an
offer of ‘eat as much as you can’ and a visit to the University of
Helsinki and their state of the art 3D printing facilities.

This term we were pleased to
welcome three Foreign
Language Assistants - Karine
Brière from Canada, Jana
Klaes from Germany and
Danae Alvarado from Chile.
They will be helping to bring
language and culture to life for
our students over the coming
academic year.
